Dedicatory

The End is the Beginning
at Great Heights
Dedicatory 2000

I dedicate each and every step that I take in my climbing Mt. Aconcagua to Marķa Isabel, Felipe Andres, Maria Sol, Angeles, Marcos Miguel, and Sofia, my six nieces and nephews who represent all children worldwide.

I dedicate the love with which I will do this project to Mari y Susana, my two sisters, who represent all mothers worldwide.

I dedicate my falls and sacrifices to my father: Felipe, because he always respected my freedom of choice, and with his example of honesty and love still guides my steps. And to Carmela, because she taught me how to find strength to always push forward, without fearing anything. It is to them that I owe life and the privilege of sending this message today.

I dedicate my hopefulness to my Italian immigrant grandfathers Vito Manno, who taught me (ever since I was a child) to love the mountains through Etna Volcano in Sicilia, and to Antonio Crescitelli, who taught me the value of words.

I dedicate my strength to my grandmothers, Adelia Moricci, who taught me how to appreciate the simple things in life, and María Brancato, who taught me that money does not buy everything.

I dedicate my illusion to Pertun.

I dedicate this privilege to Liliana de Pauli (UNIFEM: United Nations Development Fund for Women), who represents the energy of all of those who showed their confidence in me.

I dedicate the possibility to admire with my own eyes from Argentina the wonderful sunset over the Pacific Ocean to my friends.

I dedicate happiness for being able to concrete my project to José, who, even though he thought that this project was delirious, continued giving me support.

I dedicate contemplating the sky, The Milky Way and the constellations so near to my person, to all of those who shared moments with me in my life.

I dedicate my risk and my return to the memory of all of those who were not able to return from Mt. Aconcagua, especially Justina Elia Martinez Quirós, the Mexican mountaineer who passed away today, January 1, 2000.

Should someone not equally share my wishes, I dedicate everything to a superior energy that exists and that is integrated by each one of us.
